Bowen Historical Society & Museum
This comprehensive museum is housed in a purpose-designed building and it is known as one of the best museums of its kind in the state. There are hundreds of artefacts on display from over a century of European settlement and from the indigenous history of the region.
Next door to the museum is a reconstructed slab cottage originally built in 1873. This has been lovingly fitted with furniture and daily items used in that period. Come and look around inside to gain an idea of the sparse conditions experienced by the locals in the early days of Bowen.
